About Donna Wild

Donna Wild, Founder When Donna was 12 years old, she had a dream to be a dancer and have a house on a property with some happy cows. However, this was the year that doctors diagnosed her with juvenile arthritis and began medicating her for the pain. At 17 years of age, she visited specialists who diagnosed her with chronic rheumatoid arthritis in her entire body and said she would be crippled by the time she was just 22. By then, she had spent her life training to be a professional dancer, however, had become 13 kilograms overweight and directionless. Donna believes that animal cruelty is wrong and personally suffers when she sees the way humans treat animals, she has worked tirelessly for a decade to empower people and families to eat in alignment with their belief- cruelty-free. Today, Donna is a Mum of a four-year-old, a Nutritionist, a popular plant-based health and lifestyle author and an Australian Latin Dance Champion. She is completely free of arthritis, pain, and medication. With her experience transitioning from a meat-eating to vegetarian, to vegan, to purely plant-based diet, and with the tens of thousands of hours she’s put into learning about nutrition and human bodies, Donna has gone just as deep into the ethics behind what we eat which is how she came to found this charity. Til The Cows Come Home is a charity that aims to be the World Vision for livestock animals, on a mission to rescue animals that are too sick or injured to make it to slaughter and re-home them to a sanctuary to live a full and happy life, just as Donna imaged as a child.

By |December 22nd, 2016|

Hey beauties!
We’ve probably all noticed that plant-based humans (vegans) tend to be slimmer and in better overall health than the average Aussie, and yet there continues to be this common misconception that veggie diets must somehow be lacking in needed nutrients.
Can we finally clear up that confusion, please?
A simple study compared the diets and nutritional intake […]

A review of the most intensive studies on milk consumption and hip fracture risk found…no link. So that’s one myth debunked already. What about milk and bone building in adolescents? That’s exactly […]

Is Pescetarian Healthy?

By |January 12th, 2018|

Hey Wild Ones!
So many organizations are encouraging people to switch from meat consumption to chicken and fish (because chicken and fish somehow aren’t meat?) for their overall health.
Their reasoning? “White meats” are supposedly less hazardous to cholesterol levels and heart health.
What about you? Did you ever switch from being a carnivore to a “white […]

Wanna Go Paleo? Read This First

By |December 20th, 2016|

Hey, Wild Things!
Everyone is talking about the paleo diet these days, hey?
A big part of the argument for this low-carb, high-protein diet has to do with insulin. Carbohydrates, the reasoning goes, increase insulin, which is one of the worst things for our health.
Well…they got one thing right, I guess. Insulin spikes can be really dangerous […]

We’ve talked about calcium supplements before, but I have more to say.
How many of you currently take supplements or multivitamins? Which ones? Share in the comments, and let’s talk about alternatives!
I know a lot of people assume that multivitamins and other supplements are 100% safe. After all, they’re natural, food-derived products—they can’t […]

Is a High Protein Diet Healthy? Here’s the Science.

By |April 5th, 2018|

Hey Beauties!
Multiple studies have shown that restricting calories can have a positive impact on lifespan and overall health. Yet, most of us find it pretty tough to actually do it. As you can see in my before pics, I was not good at it!
In the well-known “Minnesota Starvation Study,” volunteers experienced obsession with food, […]

Are Green Smoothies Healthy?

By |January 18th, 2018|

Hey Beauties!
We’ve talked about fruit, juice and smoothies before, but there’s more to say. Much more. 😉
We all know that sugar water (soda, in other words) is bad for us. Test subjects given water mixed with three tablespoons of sugar experienced a massive blood sugar spike within the hour, followed by a hypoglycemic drop.
When […]

How Do I Get My Kids to Eat Vegetables? You Just Have to Do This.

By |January 29th, 2018|

Hey there, Compassionate One!
We don’t need science to tell us that, given the choice between veggies and candy, the average child will choose the sugar.
Science confirms that 80% of children will indeed make the unhealthy choice.
Children are pretty easy to entice, though. When researchers added an Elmo sticker to the broccoli, as many as […]

By |December 11th, 2016|

Hi, Compassionate Ones!
We’ve talked about the egg industry before, you may remember.
Now, the horrendous conditions endured by layer hens are enough to turn a compassionate heart off eggs for life—but they’re not the only reason to give a thumbs down to sunny side up.
Eggs (and especially egg yolks) are the biggest source of cholesterol in the […]
